Information

Broken X Software was founded by Daniel "Anti!" Bayer and Kevin "Mutantodon" Fucik in 1995, at that time being named Broken Cross Software. Kevin Fucik develops games since 1994, Daniel Bayer does so even longer.

The first project of Broken X Software was a game called Das Siebte Siegel (Projekt Warzenschwein). It was developed with Watcom C/C++ 10.6/11.0 with DOS Extender and based on a self-written 3D engine like the famous Build engine used for games like Duke Nukem 3D and Blood.
The engine offered sloped floors and ceilings, depth fog, a Z-buffer and an integrated editor. While working on the title, 3D accelerator cards and Windows started to become state of the art, and after an unsuccessful attempt to port the code to Windows and DirectX the project was cancelled arround 1997.

In 1998 Broken X Software started to work on Projekt Auerhahn and a game named Pure Action, today called Zerstörungswahn. Around 2001 the project almost failed while still working on the game basics, the engine. At that time Kevin Fucik couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel and so started to work on own projects. But he re-joined Projekt Auerhahn as 3D developer in 2003. At that time the whole code was revised, the engine was ported to DirectX 9 and modernized.

Now after more than 5 years of Projekt Auerhahn development, we are motivated more than ever to finish the project.
